STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY
CAMPUS DINING BASKETBALL SHOT CONTEST

OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE CHANCES OF WINNING.
VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW

Who May Enter: Contest is open to legal U.S. residents, who are aged 18 or older as of 2/3/2010 except the following classes of persons who are not eligible to enter:

(a) Fulltime employees, officers, and directors of Stony Brook University or Lackmann Culinary Services, their respective affiliated companies, subsidiaries, distributors, dealers, retailers, printers, advertising, and promotion agencies, any and all other companies associated with this contest, and the members of the immediate families or households of any of the above;
(b) Current or former professional, semi-professional or Olympic basketball players;
(c) Current or former college or high school basketball players who have played at that level within the past four (4) years;
(d) Current or former basketball coaches who have coached at the high school level or above within the past six (6) years.

How to Enter: To be entered into the contest, you must attend the February 13th Men’s Basketball game against Binghamton University.  The game begins at 7:00p.  A total of 1 finalist(s) will be randomly selected from all in attendance at the game. Each finalist must sign the official finalist affidavit of eligibility form provided by the contest administrator immediately prior to their shot attempt. A selected finalist that cannot be reached or contacted to confirm their selection, does not meet the eligibility requirements as stated above, or does not wish to participate in the grand prize contest will be disqualified. An alternate finalist will be randomly selected.  Decisions of judges are final.  By participating in this contest, the finalist agrees to allow campus dining services and Stony Brook University to use, display and copy his/her name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising relating to the contest without limitation or further compensation, unless prohibited by law.

Grand Prize Contest: In order for a grand prize to be awarded to an eligible finalist, the finalist must make the designated basketball shot as determined by contest administrator. Basketball shot is non-transferable.  The finalist selected must be the student to take the shot.

Grand Prize Shot Requirements
- The shot will take place during a timeout or other break during the February 13, 2010 Stony Brook University men’s basketball game, from half-court.
- Depending on the venue for this event, it may be necessary to mark the basketball court surface for the designated shot. All demarcation lines must be distinctly marked and clearly visible.  No part of the contestant's body or clothing may come in contact with or cross the respective demarcation lines prior to releasing the ball. A foot fault (contestant’s foot touching or crossing over the respective demarcation line(s)) will disqualify that particular shot attempt.
- The basketball shot must be attempted and made through the hoop on the fly in order to be considered a qualifying basket. Once a shot is released, the ball may not come in contact with the playing surface or any part of the ceiling, and may not tip, bounce or deflect off of any surface, person or object (except the backboard or rim) prior to passing through the hoop. The shot must qualify as a regulation basket according to all NBA/NCAA rules.
- Contestant may not attempt any practice or warm-up basketball shots in any manner prior to his/her contest attempt(s) on the designated event date(s).
- Contestant may only have one (1) attempt at the designated shot.

Prize Awards & Delivery: In the event of a successful basketball shot attempt, the selected finalist will be awarded the grand prize: $20,000.  Only one grand prize will be awarded.  Grand prize winner must accept delivery of prize from sponsor, or as otherwise instructed by sponsor. All other costs related to prize delivery and acceptance are the responsibility of winner including but not limited to taxes, title, insurance, license, and registration fees. All properly claimed prizes will be awarded. Prizes are non-transferable and no cash redemption or prize substitution allowed, except at sponsor’s sole discretion or as provided herein.  Grand prize winner(s) will be required to complete and return a W-9 form, affidavit of eligibility, and liability/publicity release, and present a valid driver’s license and Stony Brook University Student ID card before prize will be awarded.  The winner will be issued a 1099 form reflecting the value of the prize and is responsible for paying all income taxes on the prize. Failure to collect or properly claim any prize in accordance with these rules will result in forfeiture of the prize. If forfeited for any reason, contestant will not receive any other prize substitution or compensation. Total ARV of all prizes: $20,000.00 Cash.

Additional Rules & Restrictions: By participating in this promotion, entrants agree to abide by and be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which shall be final in all matters relating to this promotion. If winner is found in violation of these rules he/she may be required to forfeit his/her prize. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for the sponsor and its agencies to use winner’s name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and trade worldwide without limitation or further compensation, unless prohibited by law. By accepting prizes, winners agree to hold sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, the promotion administrator and each of their respective directors, officers, employees and assigns harmless from and against any and all claims, damages and liability of any kind arising from or in connection with the acceptance, possession or use/misuse of any prize, or participation in the promotion or in any prize-related activities, and assume all liability therefor. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the sweepstakes or in the announcement of the prizes.

Odds: The odds of being selected as an official contestant(s) are dependent upon the number of people in attendance at the game.
