Resident Meal Plan Information
Why did you add more hours of service to the Stony Brook Union?
Adding 93 more hours of service allowed us to provide food service on the north side of campus similar to what is currently offered on the south side of campus at Kelly Dining Center.
Is Campus Connection at H-Quad still open?
No. Extending operating hours in the Stony Brook Union necessitated the consolidation of labor and overhead costs from Campus Connections in Benedict College so that additional costs were not incurred by students on the meal plan. Expanded dining services will now be offered in the Stony Brook Union until 3 a.m. daily. During the late night hours students can enjoy some of their favorite food stations at the Union Commons, seven days a week. Picantes Mexican, Taro 13 Asian Specialties, made-to-order sushi, Halal New York hot food entrées, UPick Salads and Charcoal’s Grill will now be open until 10:00pm. Kosher, Halal and vegetarian grab-n-go food offerings will also be available at the Union Commons and the Union Deli. A late-night menu featuring Charcoal’s Grill, Bueños Nachos Express, pizza, sandwiches, salads and baked items made fresh daily will be offered from 10:30pm until 3:00am at the Union Commons. Starbucks will be open until midnight. The Union Deli will offer made-to-order sandwiches until 11pm. Weekend brunch will be offered both Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am-3:00pm at the Union Commons.
Did students have input in the decision to close Campus Connection at H-Quad and approve changes to the meal plan?
Yes. The meal plan was developed through the FSA committee process, discussed with the Campus Dining Meal Plan Resolutions Committee, RHA Executive Board and representatives from Mendelsohn and H-Quads, and then approved by the FSA Board of Directors. The FSA Board of Directors has four student members, three appointed by Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and one by the Graduate Student Organization (GSO).
How can students have input about future dining offerings at the Stony Brook Union?
Students can speak with a Campus Dining Manager in the Stony Brook Union, contact FSA’s Customer Advocate, Dawn Villacci at dawn.villacci@stonybrook.edu, place a suggestion in the Campus Dining webpage suggestion box at campusdining.org, or attend Stony Brook Union Dining Advisory Committee meetings. We also invite all students who would like to participate in providing input to join the Campus Dining Meal Plan Resolutions Committee. The Campus Dining Meal Plan Resolutions Committee meets Wednesdays at 1:00 pm during the academic year.
How do I find out what is open at any particular time?
Current Campus Dining hours of operation and schedules for upcoming holiday and vacation breaks are listed on the Campus Dining website: www.campusdining.org There is also a “What is open now” feature that will let you find out what is open at any particular time of day at the FSA website: www.stonybrook.edu\fsa.
