How does the meal plan at Stony Brook work?
Your Stony Brook ID card works as a debit card. Each time you make a purchase the total cost of your meal is subtracted from the dollar balance on your account.
How are the funds split on my meal plan?
There are two different tenders loaded onto students’ ID cards. Campus Points can be used at all dining locations except for Jasmine Food Court in the Wang Center. Flex Credits can be used at Jasmine. When you exhaust all of your campus points, your flex credits become flexible and can be used at any dining location. Student meal plans cannot be used at the Admin or Life Sciences Carts.
How much is a campus point or flex credit worth?
Campus points and flex credits are equal to $1.
What is the Campus Dining Operating Expense?
The Campus Dining Operating Expense is the once-per-semester $523 flat fee paid by resident students for the expenses to keep our dining facilities open and serving you. Resident students on the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Meal Plans have an operating expense included in their meal plan for the construction, renovation and operation of a diverse range of dining facilities. All other customers pay 3% additional on their purchases at the register.
